Perlane
Perlane is an injectable filler similar to Restylane but has a thicker consistency and thus greater filling capability and longevity. Perlane is an instant volumizer that requires little to no downtime. As we grow older, our skin loses volume and begins to develop changes recognizable as wrinkles and folds. Some of the main components of healthy skin are water, fat, collagen, and hyaluronic acid. There are a number of injectable cosmetic fillers available to help improve upon one's facial appearance and achieve a more youthful look without plastic surgery. These fillers restore the lost volume and smooth out skin wrinkles. Collagen and fat are some of the more traditional fillers used for cosmetic enhancement but they can have some drawbacks.
Perlane has a number of advantages over other injections. The hyaluronic acid that makes up Perlane is naturally found in our bodies and provides volume and fullness to the skin. Perlane has been proven to last longer than collagen injections as it maintains its shape using the body's own moisture. Fat injections, although typically much longer lasting, are a more involved procedure and typically require more down-time than Perlane.

Perlane is a non-animal, biodegradable gel based on hyaluronic acid developed in 1996. Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide (a natural sugar) that is found largely in the skin. Its primary function is to provide volume and pliability to the skin. The unique characteristic of hyaluronic acid is its ability to bind with water up to 1,000 times its volume. This water-retaining property makes it ideal as a filler agent, for even while hyaluronic acid filler is being naturally degraded it continues to attract more water to it. After Perlane injections, the skin appears healthier, fuller, and tighter and as a result the lines, wrinkles, and folds are improved. There are a number of other hyaluronic acid injectable fillers similar to Perlane available in the market. These include Restylane, Hylaform, Captique, and Juvederm.
Perlane and Restylane injections can improve lip lines and enhance aging lips.
